The welcoming function for all International attendees will be held after dinner at the historic Looff Carousel, situated in the beautiful Riverfront Park. We have something in common with this carousel. It was constructed here in Spokane by the famous German wood carver and carousel maker, Mr. Charles Looff. It was a present to his daughter on her wedding day - 100 years ago as of 2009. In other words, the carousel came into existence the year the Hudson Motor Car Company was started. The local chapter of the HET Club, the Gem State Chapter, was privileged to help the Spokane Parks Dept. celebrate this joyous 100th Anniversary with a car show in the Park. Come, all you children from 1 to 100 years of age, and take a ride. Hundreds of thousands of thrill seekers have done so in the past. Now it's your turn to take a spin. Enjoy an ice cream Sundae of your choice and get reacquainted with your HET friends from across the great nation and around the world.
We are expecting a number of vendors to attend the Meet, bringing their wares for all to see and purchase. The space is located mainly on the ground floor of the hotel and can be accessed either from the elevator, stairs or the parking area. Much of the Swap Meet area will be under cover and in the shade. Restroom facilities are located in the hotel, a short walk away. Spaces in the Swap Meet area will be assigned on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Therefore, it is important to sign up early.
#1: Procedures and materials used in painting cars in the 21st century. The discussion will cover all aspects of achieving a high quality paint finish for your show car by Tom Mertens.
The presentation will start with:
#2: Application and sources of window channeling and weather stripping for Hudson built cars by Victor Zamora.
#3: To Be Announced
Spokane was a hub for auto/stock car racing beginning in the late 1940s. Racing teams were soon to learn of the Hudson big six engines ever before the Hornet was put on the market. To help us relive those exciting days, we have two racing greats who will speak informally about their experiences and successes they achieved with Hudson produced cars. This is the first time Ed Sneva and Norm Ellefson have joined together to make such a presentations and you will not want to miss it.
The annual banquet of the Hudson Essex Terraplane International Motor Car Club will be held at the "Host Hotel". The spacious facility is large enough for everyone to be in the same room. The banquet will be preceded by a no-host cocktail/social hour to be held in the lobby. Wines and mixed drinks will be available throughout the banquet period and after for your enjoyment. Music will be provided for your listening and dancing pleasure. A fine meal will be served (your choice of chicken or beef as the main entrée). Vegetarian and children's meals will also be available.
Cheddar Chive Crusted Chicken
Chicken breast, crusted with aged cheddar cheese, roasted and served with chive butter sauce
Sliced London Broil
Served with mushroom demi glace, frizzled onions, and garlic mashed potatoes
A special prize will be given out to one lucky person at each table at the end of the program. You simply will not want to miss this event.
